A lively group of year 6's from Maple Cross Primary school filled the Maple Cross Club for a fabulous after-school club. Supporting them to take transition in their Stride.
Richard one of the Trinity Trustees and I set up on the third week expectant for their return. We'd had lots of students come on week 1 and more last week. We wondered who would join us the next week...
Well to our joy they came bundling in the door and we welcomed them back to what now felt like their space!
For a few reasons we haven't got any photos of the young people who came but I hope you can imagine them striding around the room. Table tennis bats pinging with the sound of play, Kinetic sand molds being made in the corner, Lego creations emerging sparked by the imagination of the young people.
It was such a joy to be part of this.
Simon wrote about this club and said, "The work is focused on transition and independence. Over the weeks we have been meeting we have seen between 17-20 attend. The club centers on retaining existing friendships after transition to Secondary school as the Children's Society noted that the ones who are mostly likely to notice whether we are in a mental health crisis will be those closest to us - usually our friends. The club has been a huge success and those attending are really keen to see it remain and offered for them in September once term starts."
Watch this space, we hope to update you on a Donut Club springing up here for the same young people and their friends from September!
Peace and Joy,
